AHA BLS Instructor Course

The American Heart Association BLS Instructor Course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach the BLS Provider (CPR) Instructor-Led Training (ILT) course and the skills testing portion of the HeartCode BLS blended learning course. The course educates instructor candidates on how to adequately use AHA Instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet learning objectives, offer student coaching skills, provide an objective skills performance evaluation, and follow AHA Instructor and course policies.
PLEASE NOTE: Students must complete the AHA BLS Instructor Essentials Online Class and bring their completion certificate to this class. The BLS Instructors Essential Online class may be purchased at:

Students must also have an AHA TC to align with prior to completing this class. A teaching evaluation will be necessary after this class is completed to gain certification.
Students must possess a BLS instructor manual.
Things you must have and bring to class:
- Copy of your completed BLS Instructor Essentials certificate
- Copy of current BLS provider card
- Affiliation agreement from your AHA Training Center stating they are willing to let you teach BLS for them
- Date of a BLS class happening after the instructor course where you can do your observed teaching
- A BLS Instructor Manual
